The world of UX is full of jargons, UI, MVP, IA, ID, VD, WTF… the last one is mine, though 😉 Sometimes half the battle of building your UX strategy is done if someone can explain you the purpose and importance of these other-worldly jargons. You are not alone, there are many who seem to be completely puzzled when some of our designers accidentally blurt out a UX term in the middle of a meeting.
One such very common term is UX strategy. We all are familiar with the concept of developing a strategic approach to user experience since many years, but resources explaining the intricacies of this process and activities involved are extremely rare. So, at INKONIQ, we decided to bring more clarity.
We are delighted to introduce our yet another UX initiative for 2016, a free to use website that simplifies the world of UX and also helps you in planning your product strategy in the most meaningful way.
The niche world of Plan Your UX strategy
PlanYourUXStrategy is a definitive guide, providing an overview of the elements essential for developing a successful UX, in a language that’s easy for regular folks to understand. Here, you get an easy walkthrough of the design processes and activities based on the type of product you are working on, whether a minimal viable product (MVP) or an optimum viable product (OVP.)
The entire design lifecycle has been divided into the standard 4 phases – Discovery and Research, Analysis and Ideation, Experience Design, and Implement and Evaluate.
We zeroed on the power of scrolling to explain what happens during each phase. You also get to know the different activities involved in different product types, the reason for performing these activities and how they will be helpful in blueprinting the next step in your design process.
For example, a discovery process for OVP involves comprehensive design research activities including stakeholder interviews, focus groups, expert reviews, surveys, competitor benchmarks and user interviews. On the other hand, the discovery phase in MVP, where time is the key, is limited to stakeholder interviews, expert reviews and competitor benchmarking.
Focussed on making each phase a visual delight, we used flowcharts to define the scope and structure of the activities involved. Moreover, when you click on the listed activities, a popup opens up with quick bites on the activity details and steps that are essential to make that activity a success.
Sounds tough, but full of rewards
The design processes may vary with different requirements and different companies, but we try hard to follow each and every one of them at INKONIQ. The UX activities on the list are tough to follow due to various constraints like time, resources, budget, but once followed thoroughly, can reap incredible benefits for your products. It’s a box full of goodies and is currently available for free on our website for everyone to understand and use.
There’s this hard to miss beard UX expert icon (highly inspired by our UX guru Prachod) to help you with more questions. Hope this effort of ours will help you plan a better UX strategy for your product. We have many interesting initiatives in the pipeline, to provide insights on how a right UX strategy can do wonders for your business. We’ll keep you posted…
