Most people are limiting the word CLIENTS with businesses only, but when it comes to dealing, clients are everywhere; sometimes father is a tough client to ask for money, a boss is unbearable when applying for leaves and when it comes to deal with a client like a wife, MAN, you are in a deep shit.
But today, we decided to do something fun. We’ve picked a few interesting characters from your favorite series GAME of THRONES to give you a sense of unique UX clients. Let’s see how easy or tough it is to handle your favorites as your client:
You Know Nothing… Jon Snow!!
Well, like how it goes… This type of client has no idea on how to get things done, what type of design they want, and zero ideas about the trends in UX.
- Mostly confused on what is the priority, like how Jon Snow is confused whether to take care of the Wall or Winterfell.
- Everyone needs a Sam, so does Snow. They would probably have a partner who as well has no idea of what’s going on. But yeah, they will have a lot to say because “I read it in a book” 😛
- Since they are confused all the time, they might even give you hard time understanding what they really want. They would say something in the meeting and would mail you next morning stating something exactly opposite.
- They are men of words. So yeah, don’t think they are dumb if they are trying hard to get the work done even though they know nothing about it. They are just trying to keep their words.
Well, they do know some things, that they want a design, they want it done within 3 weeks. But yeah, whom are we kidding. Snow knows nothing!! :’D
More Wine Please!… Cersei Lannister
Oh yes!! We are talking about the Queen Regent. The client that falls under this category will have a complex character.
- They have a little idea about what they want but will make sure they get it. But mostly whatever they want are all stupid things.
- They have a lot of ego, and be prepared, you will have to go through a hell lot of arguing with them to get a final design done.
- Beware!! They are damn good at manipulating. They make you feel sorry for them at times, you can fall into their trap and get yourself in trouble for not submitting a good design which was the actual requirement by the firm.
One of the main things I must say is their unconditional love for their organization. They will be ready to do whatever it takes to give their firm the design they wanted. Their loyalty is something to learn from.
Everything’s better with some wine in the belly!!… Tyrion Lannister
The Imp is one of the most sensible and wise characters of the show. Well yeah, these clients are someone you wanna work with. 😛
- They are always concerned about how their house err… firm is doing the self-promotion. Truly, they are not at all satisfied with their strategies and tries so hard to create a positive image for their house, but fail every time.
- It’s so easy to convince them with any design of our choice. You just need to bring in their weakness. Say, deadlines, or more wine and hot girls 😉 😛
- But you can never manipulate them by waving off their design ideas as stupid, or dumb, because they wear their flaws like an armor.
But hey, as easy as they seem to be, they can flip you out and win you over with the same arguments. Because hell yeah they are good with words and never delay you with payments 😀
Freedom means making your own choices… Daenerys Targaryen
What is fun without having a client who is so impatient and impulsive? And who keep on praising themselves of how strong and good they are? Hahaha!! Yes Targaryen clients are like that, say like Daenerys 😛
- They will be totally out of patience, and might give you deadlines which are impossible to meet with. But yeah their deadlines are like “I am the mother of dragons, and I want to be on the iron throne tomorrow…but oh shit we are out of ships..” .:’D
- These people are who you should be really careful with. Because they are quick in making decisions and can reject any artwork easily.
But you always have an advantage with them. They are beautiful and offer justice and pay pretty well for the work done.
Stick ‘em with the pointy head!!… Arya Stark
Arya Stark is someone to learn from. She’s an absolute firecracker – A brave little champ who always finds her way for survival. Well, of course for not being dumb sometimes.
- The clients who fall in this category always hold on to their point. No matter even if they are standing next to a sword’s pointy head, they’ll stick to what they believe in.
- They will always look around for what their competitors are doing and will always try to protect their people. You shouldn’t say anything bad about their firm or design, they can keep it in mind and use it against you later.
- Well, they have a lot of secret friends who can help them get things they need. Say like the faceless man, who can even charge to your boss and make you agree to their design 😛
But hey, they can be a real sweetheart if you become friends with them. They’ll do anything and everything to agree with you and stand with you.
The God of Light has shown me this design!!… Melisandre
Oh My God!! Yes, she can make you say that, even when you just want to kill her. 😀 How can we miss out on a super interesting and mystical category of clients. Melisandre is such a blind follower. Well, we can’t blame her, poor thing doesn’t know what’s happiness. Maybe because her previous employer wasn’t good like Stannis. 😛
- These category of clients are too much dependent on their managers. Because they are scared that the night is dark and full of terrors. I think someone had locked them in some dark room and scared the shit out of them 😛
- They are themselves not sure of what they want and are often behind someone else’s work. They will try to manipulate you by saying victory is yours, but please don’t fall for their trap.
- They might make you sit and work for long hours, even when you just want to go home and sleep. You would probably complete the work, but mind ya!! They won’t even have a penny to pay you.
How can you expect them to pay?? They only work at night, and the night is dark and full of terrors. They can’t even steal 😛 😛
What are you thinking – What you should think?
Handling emotions are tough and when you’ve to deal with client emotions, only a maturity like Tyrion Lannister can save you. First, you should select your clients very carefully, because if you’ll say YES to every project, you might end up out of the work even before you even started it. Don’t try to work for all the 7 Kingdoms like how Ned Stark did.
OR you can be a crazy bastard like Jaqen H’ghar – faceless, helpful, and adaptive to whatever situation he’s in. At least you can change your face and run if you mess up the work and still live your life happily 😉 😀
